Decatur Fire Department Mission Statement

To promote life, safety, and property conservation for the citizens of Decatur, Illinois through compassionate, professional service.

The Decatur Fire Department has a total of seven fire stations located throughout the city. There are six engine companies, two truck companies, a command vehicle, two hazmat response vehicles and two boats. The reserve fleet consists of two engines, and a ladder truck. The seven stations are staffed by 109 firefighters and has a Class 2 ISO Rating. In 2019, the fire department responded to 10,968 calls resulting in 14,123 unit responses. Additionally, the fire department conducted nearly 600 fire safety inspections, presented countless fire and life safety educational programs, while also carrying out all the tasks needed to maintain a state of readiness.
