Intersection, Lane and Road Closures

The following lane and road closures have been posted by or reported to the city’s Public Works Department.  Closures can result from work being done in the street, the street and lane closed for safety reasons as private contractor perform work or are provided by outside agencies, such as IDOT or the Macon County Highway Department, that may affect travel in and around Decatur.

Please reduce speed and follow all signs in the work areas.

Lane Closures

N Japser Street

Burdick Plumbing will be performing a pothole of a water main in the 2600 block of North Jasper Street beginning Monday, August 10, 2020. This work will cause the closure of the southbound eats lane, in front of the Water Services Building on North Jasper Street starting at 12 p.m., Monday, August 10, 2020 and will continue to approximately 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 11,  2020. Mound Road

Dunn Company will be performing Crack Filling on Mound Road just East of Rt 51 to Rt 48 beginning Thursday, August 06, 2020, weather permitting. This work will cause the partial closure of Mound Road just East of Rt 51 to Rt 48 starting at 6:00 a.m., Thursday, August 06, 2020, and will continue to approximately 5:30 p.m., Friday, August 7, 2020. W Grand Ave and N Union Street

City Crews will be repairing a water valve on West Grand Avenue beginning Wednesday, August 5, 2020. This work will cause the closure of the right east bound lane in the 300 block of West Grand Avenue and North Union Street at Grand Avenue on the south of Grand Avenue, starting at 8:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 5, 2020 and will continue to approximately 3:00 p.m. Monday, August 10, 2020. 2800 and 2802 North Main Street

Entler Excavating will be performing Storm Drainage Work in front of 2800 and 2802 North Main Street beginning Monday, August 3, 2020, weather permitting. This work will cause the closure of the East lane of North Main Street in front of 2800 and 2802 North Main Street starting at 6:30 a.m., Monday, August 3, 2020 and will continue to approximately 5:00 p.m., Monday, August 31, 2020. Road Closures

Zion Chapel Rd – Macon County Highway Department

The City of Decatur received the following press release from the Macon County Highway Department:

PRESS RELEASE

The bridge on Zion Chapel Rd. in Blue Mound Township is closed due to structural deficiencies. It is closed between IL Route 48 and CH 29 (Boody Rd.) and will remain closed until bridge replacement.

Effective today, August 3, 2020.

South Taylor Road

Sangamo Construction Company will be replacing Taylor Road Bridge over Ward Branch beginning Tuesday July 14, 2020, weather permitting. This work will cause the closure of Taylor Road south of Enterprise Elementary School beginning at 7:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 14, 2020 and will continue to approximately 3:30 p.m., Thursday, December 31, 2020. The detour route is as follows: Southbound use Route 48 East to Route 105 East to Route 51 South to Grove Road. Northbound use Grove Road to Route 51 North to Route 105 West to Route 48 West to Taylor Road.
