Police Department Fatal Accident Investigation Team (FAIT)
The Fatal Accident Investigation Team (FAIT) consists of one patrol sergeant and nine patrol officers who receive additional training in accident investigation from Northwestern University Center of Public Safety and Reid Associates on interviewing and interrogation skills. Members of the FAIT also attend monthly training on numerous traffic accident investigative procedures.
The FAIT are called upon to investigate traffic accidents involving all fatalities and/or serious injuries occurring with the City of Decatur.
