City Approves New Energy Agreement
DECATUR - The Decatur City Council on Monday approved an agreement with a new electricity supplier for Decatur city government expected to save the city more than $1 million over the life of the agreement.
The city council voted in favor of the agreement with Integrys Energy Service who will take over providing the service once the city government contract ends in June with Ameren Energy Marketing. The contract is expected to save $338,005 per year in energy costs for the city’s 89 accounts, or $1,014,015 over the 3-year life of the new contract.
The agreement is between Decatur City Government and Integrys and does not involve agreements that residents might have with other providers.
In other business, the council approved adjustments to a pair of programs providing grant assistance for the rehabilitation of commercial and residential properties located downtown and along West Main St. and in West Town Square.
