Affordable Housing Fair Set
DECATUR – The Decatur Human Relations Commission’s Fair Housing Committee will hold its annual Affordable Housing Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 1 at the Decatur Public Library’s Madden Auditorium.
The even, themed “Owning Is Believing,” is free and open to the public. The program will be beneficial for anyone looking to become a homeowner for the first time or for people who may not have been in the housing market for some time but who might be soon.
Fair topics include:
- What programs does the City of Decatur offer for home improvements and first time homebuyers? - Richelle Irons- City of Decatur
- How good does my credit need to be? - Karen Rossi- C.I.D.M.E.C
- How do I get approved for a mortgage loan? - John Meyers- Springfield HUD
- What are my tax benefits as a homeowner? - Ellen Hart- Springfield IRS
- What are some things I need to watch out for? - Marian Honel - Illinois Department of Human Rights
Complimentary refreshments will be served and door prizes will be awarded during the housing fair. Booth space is also available for business or other institutions for a fee of $50. Those interested in having a booth have until April 16th to register.
