South Shores Bridge Replacement
Public Hearing Set

DECATUR - The City of Decatur is looking for public input on the proposed replacement of a local bridge on the city’s south side that today handles more than 81,000 cars each month.

The City will hold a public information meeting and open house to present information and receive input on the proposed replacement of the South Shores Drive Bridge over the Sand Creek arm of Lake Decatur from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, April 28. The meeting will be held at South Shores Elementary School, 2500 S. Franklin Street Road and those interested may attend at anytime during the meeting.

The bridge is located on South Shores Drive between Lake Pointe and Shore Oak Drive. It will be completely closed during the project, which will result in a rerouting of local traffic. The project is expected to take 6-8 months to complete.

Representatives from the City and the consulting firm URS Corporation will be present to answer questions and to receive public comment during the meeting. For more information contact the City of Decatur’s engineering department at 424-2747.
