Sidewalks, Parking Spaces Near Barnes Building Parking Garage to Close Temporarily
DECATUR - A number of parking spaces and the sidewalks along the north, south and east portions of the Barnes Citizen’s Building parking garage between William and Park streets downtown will be closed beginning tomorrow due to garage structural concerns.
A recent structural study of the garage uncovered several problems leading to the closure of certain areas both inside and surrounding the garage until those problems can be addressed. The building owner will be required to submit a remediation plan to the city and make required repairs before the garage and sidewalks will return to normal use.
