FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Prairie Avenue Near MLK Intersection Now Open
DECATUR – Prairie Avenue at the railroad bridge just east of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive is now open to both pedestrian and vehicular traffic following an extensive rehabilitation project funded by the Canadian National Railroad.
The roadway has been closed since late November when work began to repair the aging bridge, work estimated at about $350,000. This stretch of Prairie Avenue is heavily traveled, often used by motorists as a detour when area train traffic is present.
