DECATUR POLICE DEPARTMENT ADDS TWO OFFICERS

DECATUR - The Decatur Police Department on Thursday added two new police officers to the department, bringing the department to full strength at 164 officers.

Joining the force were Devyn K. Flanagan, 24 of Riverton, IL and Christopher C. Croninger, 35, who is originally from Toledo, OH but has lived in Decatur since 2006. Croninger has served as an aviator in the U.S. Navy for 10 years and earned a B.A. from The Ohio State University in 1996, having also worked for the Community Crime Patrol while in college. Flanagan received a pair of bachelor’s degrees from Bradley University - one in Criminal Justice and the other in Sociology - and has also completed a Law Enforcement internship with the Peoria Police Department.

The Decatur Police Department expects will hire two additional officers in December which will replace two officers who elected to participate in the Voluntary Severance Plan and will be leaving the department on Oct. 30. There will be a public announcement detailing the results of the VSP next week.
