FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Roach School Hearing Canceled
DECATUR – Thursday’s trial hearing on the City’s demolition complaint against the owner of the former Roach School has been postponed following the court’s granting of a request from the building owner’s attorney to withdraw from the case for nonpayment.
The Court this week granted the motion of attorney Paul Chiligiris to withdraw as defense counsel in the demolition case against Deerfield Village, L.L.C., the owner of the former Roach school. The motion to withdraw states that Deerfield Village, L.L.C. is in arrears on payments in the amount of $4,995.16 and that the attorney has unsuccessfully requested on numerous occasions that Deerfield make payment arrangements towards the fees but has not received payment since July 9, 2009.
The law requires that the owner now be allowed a minimum of 21 days to hire new counsel and the case is scheduled for a status hearing at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 24. The case number is 2008-MR-144 and case details can be viewed on the Macon County Clerk’s web site at www.court.co.macon.il.us.
