City of Decatur Finance Department
Water Customer Service
Water Customer Service is a function of the Finance Division. Duties include managing water service requests, billing, and collections for users of the City’s water supply. Residential customers are billed on a quarterly basis, and most commercial customers are billed monthly.
Residential customers are typically billed for water usage, a recycling charge, a sewer user fee, and a sanitary fee. The sanitary fee is billed on behalf of and turned over to the Decatur Sanitary District. Recycling services are contracted through Suburban Disposal and specific recycling questions should be directed to them at (217) 877-9867. Recycling charges are billed regardless of whether services are utilized.
Customer service is located on the second floor of the Civic Center, #1 Gary K. Anderson Plaza, and open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Contact (217) 424-2841.
